Mushroom Growth Stages
Process:
The following process expands on the instructions provided from the mushroom kit.
- Open the box and put on protective gloves and mask.
- Open the large barge of mushroom compost and fold over the sides of the provided box.
- Fluff up the compost using a gardening shovel or plastic fork and spread evenly inside the box.
- Spread the small bag of peat moss over the top of the mushroom compost.
- Place the box inside a dark and humid environment (around 18°C to 22°C)
- Spray water using a mister to keep the compost moist at all times but not wet. Spray twice a day.
- Cover the box with a thick cardboard that blocks the light.
- After a few weeks, “white veins” should appear across the surface of the kit. Remove the cover to allow for better air flow and continue to keep in a dark location and mist regularly. Mushrooms should appear in 21 - 39 days.
- Harvest the mushrooms by gently twisting the bottom of the stem to break away from compost.
Keep kit away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
